Linux Web Hosting Support Specialist (Level 1)
Location: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire
Salary: £18,000 - £23,000 depending on experience + benefits.

Role Summary:

You will be responsible for delivering exceptional 1st line customer careto our managed hosting customers. Requests will include basic technical support, account management, billing queries as well as dealing with potential new customers needing sales advice. This role would suit an aspiring SysAdmin looking for experience in a fast-paced hosting environment.

Responsibilities:

- Advising prospective and existing clients via phone, livechat, email and helpdesk ticket system.
- Assisting clients with basic tasks (e.g. setting up email and common cPanel hosting tasks).
- Providing 1st line customer support for common technical and non-technical issues. (such as FTP or email login issues, file permissions, common script issues in Wordpress, Magento, Joomla).
- Troubleshoot and solve a wide range of customer support issues from basic to complex.
- Escalating support issues that cannot be dealt with by yourself to the next level.
- Identifying recurring issues/requests and documenting solutions internally and externally.
- Monitoring our servers and systems and responding to or escalating problems.
- Migrating customer accounts from one server to another.
- Performing system maintenance by following supervisor instruction and documentation.
- Domain name management (e.g. Nameserver changes).
- Order processing: setting up new hosting accounts, domain names and SSL certificates.
- Account management: processing upgrades/downgrades and suspending/un-suspending users.
- Customer relationship management: following up with customers to ensure they are happy!
- Answering all emails and calls in a positive and friendly manor - you are the front line!

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

- A good working knowledge of the Internet, e-mail and web hosting in general.
- Previous experience in hosting technical support and/or sales is a definite advantage.
- Some working knowledge of basic Linux server systems administration.
- Good understanding of the web hosting environment (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).
- Experience with using cPanel web hosting accounts.
- Understanding of SSL, DNS, Networking, SMTP, POP3, FTP, SSH fundamentals.
- Scripting language knowledge e.g. PHP and Perl.
- Good technical knowledge of commonly hosted end-user applications such as: Magento, Joomla, Wordpress, Moodle, and other common PHP/MySQL based software.
- Working knowledge of typical level 1 support requests and other related tasks.
- Write documentation and contribute to the staff knowledge base.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people.
- Knowledge of our hosting products and services and an ability to listen to a potential customers needs and advice them of the most suitable product in a friendly and easy to understand manor.
- Confidence to work with high profile accounts and manage their needs and expectations.
- Ability to multitask and meet specific goals set by supervisors and management

Linux Web Hosting System Administrator (Level 2)
Location: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire
Salary: £23,000 - £32,000 depending on experience + benefits.

Role Summary:

You will be responsible for delivering exceptional 2nd line technical supportto our managed hosting customers. Working via online helpdesk, email and telephone you will be dealing with escalated support issues and server management duties, responding to server monitoring alerts and taking care of day-to-day Linux system administration across our fleet of 500+ CentOS based servers. This role would suit an aspiring SysAdmin looking for experience in a fast-paced hosting environment with an aim of moving up to more advanced level 3 responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

- Working directly with customers via phone, livechat, email and helpdesk ticket system.
- Troubleshoot and solve a wide range of customer support issues from basic to complex.
- Dealing with escalated issues and support requests from our Level 1 support team.
- Escalating support issues that cannot be dealt with by yourself to our Level 3 team.
- Identifying recurring issues/requests and documenting solutions internally and externally.
- Monitoring our servers and systems and responding to problems.
- Monitor server health and capacity levels, recommending upgrades/changes where required.
- Performance optimisation on busy servers and dynamic websites with slow page loading times.
- Helping clients with issues popular scripts are prone to have (e.g. Joomla, Wordpress, Magento) - Performing routine system maintenance and upgrades to our Linux servers.
- Migrating customer accounts from one server to another.
- Maintaining our off-site backup servers (ensuring backups are current, restoring backups, etc).
- Customer relationship management: following up with customers to ensure they are happy!
- Working with our sales team to plan new customer solutions and server deployments.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

- Proven track record managing and supporting Linux servers with a cPanel hosting environment.
- Working knowledge of typical level 2 hosting issues, support requests and related tasks.
- Strong understanding of CentOS/Redhat distribution of Linux (we are nearly 100% CentOS).
- Solid experience in managing web hosting environments: LAMP Stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP), SSL, TCP/IP, DNS, Networking, FTP, SSH, POP3, IMAP, SMTP, Sendmail, Exim, IPTables.
- Strong understanding of cPanel control panel based servers.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues independently under time/SLA constraints until resolved.
- Strong technique in server optimisation and performance tuning (e.g. troubleshooting high load on busy servers or helping a customer improve web page delivery speeds).
- Understanding of Mod_Security or similar application firewalls.
- Automation with BASH, Perl, PHP or other scripting languages and tools.
- Familiarity with load balancing, clustering, and software/hardware solutions (e.g. rsync and MySQL replication on a load balanced setup).
- Ability to use server health and monitoring tools (e.g. Nagios, Cacti).
- Experience of managing backup and retrieval software (we use Idera/r1Soft).
- Experience in managing 'shared hosting' servers and common issues in multi user environments.
- Ability to multitask and meet specific goals set by supervisors and management - Confidence to work with high profile accounts and manage their needs and expectations.
- Write documentation and contribute to the staff knowledge base.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people.

Linux Web Hosting Systems Administrator (Level 3+)
Location: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire
Salary: £30,000 - £50,000 depending on experience + benefits.

Role Summary:

The senior systems administrator will be responsible for delivering 3rd line technical support to external clients and internal employees. This will be a varied role from escalated customer support problems at application, server or hardware level through to standard change requests from our customers. You will provide specialist advice to customers and help to optimise and performance tune their hosting solutions. Requests are dealt with via phone, email and ticketing system either directly from the customer or via our internal team. Part of this role will also involve working alongside sales to design and deploy new solutions for customers, and elements of technical project work to develop the operations within our company.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

- Proven track record of managing and supporting Linux web hosting systems.
- Strong understanding of CentOS/Redhat distribution of Linux (we are nearly 100% CentOS based).
- Solid experience in managing web hosting environments: LAMP Stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP), SSL, TCP/IP, DNS, Networking, FTP, SSH, POP3, IMAP, SMTP, Sendmail, Exim, IPTables.
- Strong understanding of cPanel control panel based servers.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues independently under time/SLA constraints until resolved.
- Strong technique in server optimisation and performance tuning (e.g. troubleshooting high load on busy servers or helping a customer improve web page delivery speeds).
- Use of software such as Varnish, Nginx, APC, Memcache for Apache performance tuning.
- Ability to tune busy MySQL servers.
- Understanding of Mod_Security or similar application firewalls.
- Automation with BASH, Perl, PHP or other scripting languages and tools.
- Familiarity with load balancing, clustering, and software/hardware solutions (e.g. rsync and MySQL replication on a load balanced setup).
- Working knowledge of virtualised environments, especially Xen and onapp utilising SAN technologies.
- Ability to use server health and monitoring tools (e.g. Nagios, Cacti).
- Experience of managing backup and retrieval software (we use Idera/r1Soft).
- Knowledge of Linux security and auditing tools and techniques to maintain a secure environment.
- Good working knowledge of typical hosting industry practices, operating system and software environments, networking and firewall changes, scripting and/or coding and other related tasks.
- Experience in managing 'shared hosting' servers and common issues in multi user environments.
- Good technical knowledge of commonly hosted end-user applications such as: Magento, Joomla, Wordpress, Moodle, and other common PHP/MySQL applications.
