UnitedHosting operates from multiple datacentre locations in and around London. Our primary facility, named 'Centro', is conveniently located close to the M1 and M25, set within a secure private 50,000 sq ft compound. Power

Dual dedicated 11,000V (HV) grid connections via diverse feeds and substations.
N+1 redundant diesel stand-by generators with 5 days of fuel supply kept onsite.
Fully Redundant diverse Uninterruptible site-wide Power Supply (UPS) System.
During utility power outages the facility will run uninterrupted from UPS or generator power.
Generator systems are subject to bi-weekly start up test and monthly service visits.
Power feeds are fully conditioned for surge suppression.

Connectivity

100% Juniper core routing equipment with HP and Cisco switching hardware.
Multiple fibre entry points to building ensure redundancy in case of external cable cut.
Resilient dark fibre connectivity to London carrier rings.
Further network POPs located in Telecity Sovereign House and Telehouse North.
Dual diverse network drops to each rack ensuring no single point of failure.
Undersold network at less than 50% capacity (never over subscribed).

Cooling

N+1 high efficiency air conditioning systems.
10MW packaged chiller capacity maintains constant 22C data floor temperature.
Latest contained 'hot aisle' design for high efficiency cooling.
1 metre false ceiling void for hot-air return to down flow units.
Quarterly PPM visits with checks of CRAC units, chillers, pumps and pipework.

Fire Suppression

Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA) protection.
FM200 (inert gas) fire suppression system
Double knock zoned fire detection system.
BMS monitoring of fire alarm, VESDA and gas suppression systems.
Quarterly PPM visits with full test of smoke detection, VESDA and FM200 systems.
Annual room seal integrity tests.

Security

3m security fence with rota-spikes and perimeter anti ram-raid barriers.
Blast proof anti-intruder shielded external windows and doors.
Proximity access locks on all external and internal doors.
Interlocked man-trap doors with biometric iris scan to gain access to data floor.
Each server cabinet has separate locked door access (we don’t use open racks).
Perimeter and internal IP CCTV system monitored 24x7.
24x7 on-site security guards with static and mobile patrols.

24/7 Onsite Staffing

24x7 on-site qualified technical engineers pro-actively monitor all systems.
On-site officing means instant physical access to servers (no call out).
All on-site personnel are security vetted to BS7858 standard.
Only authorised signed in staff are allowed onto the data floor, private closed facility.

Environmental Policy

We always seek to minimise energy that our facility consumes, without compromise.
A member of The Green Grid industry body, complying with EU datacentre code of conduct.
Audited and certified to ISO 14001 (Environment Management) standards.
Facility achieves a PUE figure of between 1.2 and 1.4 with class-leading efficiency.
We utilise 100% certified, renewable green energy sourced from hydroelectric powerplants.
Server hardware is cycled out to newer more efficient technology as it becomes available.
